Cassy

I applaud you for helping; many folks wouldn't have done as you did. I am a teacher in an urban school, most of my students get free lunch and lack many of the resources my own son enjoys. I remind my colleagues to be careful about these kinds of assignments that place such a burden on families. I am also trying to convince "the big people" in my school district about something that makes too much sense. We need to keep schools open after hours, have supportive staff available, make the library and computer lab accessible so kids and parents can use them! As an advocate for immigrant students and bilingual/esl education, I see the lack of equity every day.
I firmly believe that it is up to ALL OF US to ensure that ALL CHILDREN enjoy equal and equitable access to high-standards education and the resources to achieve it.
