I think the stats are shameful, but we cannot put the blame on the system for CPS. We must start by thinking what are we doing beyond complaining for others to fix our problems? How many of us are dedicating time to volunteer and tutor our kids, and by this I mean not just "our kids" but the "Latino kids that live in our communities." And how many of us seek a career in education?

I reference to teachers teaching subjects that are not experts in their subject matters. The problem is that there is not enough teachers, those of us who are Latinos and get to college to received a formal education, we are looking to climb the corporate latter and achieve financial independence.

The best way to start making a change is not by demanding others to fix our problems, but to start fixing the problem ourselves and then ask for help from others.
