Ignorance proper of campesino folks , they know what is their nationality , just by being used to it , but they don't know what is their real ethnic ancestral identity . They just accept what their community leaders , local paisano politician ,Washington servant, tells them . Neither Brazilians(Portuguese) nor Guyanese, Belizeans and Jamaicans (Anglo) nor Haitian (French) are designated Hispanic/Latino by the unique American government regulations. They are all predominantly black African populations. Which is also true of the Caribbean Hispanic /Latino populations. Black Africans came to the New World as slaves under various European colonial empires.

Comparing Hispanics/Latinos, a Spanish language and cultural designation, to racial groups such as Whites and Blacks as well as a geographic group such as Asians makes no sense at all. Anglo, Sino, Franco, Germanic and Italian etc. are examples of proper comparative analogs. Hispanics include Blacks, Whites, Native Americans and Asians along with every admixture thereof just like these other linguistic and cultural traditions. What is the racial breakdown of the Hispanic /Latino population?
